Specialist Diagnostic Assessments for Children, Young People and Adults

Stockport Dyslexia Service provides independent, high‑quality diagnostic assessments carried out by an AMBDA‑qualified assessor holding a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC). All reports meet current SASC requirements and follow the new national report format, ensuring they are fully recognised by schools, colleges, universities and employers.

Each assessment offers a clear, detailed understanding of an individual’s literacy profile, underlying processing skills and learning needs. Reports include a diagnostic decision where appropriate, alongside practical, tailored recommendations that can be implemented at home, in school or in further education.

For students in Years 9, 10 and 11, collaboration with school SENCos is included as part of the Diagnostic Assessment Package to support Exam Access Arrangements.

Knowledgeable & Helpful

I found Julie to be knowledgeable and helpful. She enabled us to look at learning strategies to help our daughter in the future.

The whole experience was really positive. My daughter felt very comfortable as it was done in a non-stressful environment with lots of care and consideration to her needs.

The formal report was extremely helpful and in-depth and time was given to go through this and answer the questions it raised.

I would 100% recommend Romiley Dyslexia Service.

Clear Recommendations

Our son wasn't progressing with reading as quickly as his peers and had remained on the same book band all year, with no clear explanation from school.

We arranged a dyslexia assessment to understand why. Julie quickly put him at ease, creating a relaxed atmosphere where he felt comfortable talking openly about reading and learning.

Her report gave us clear recommendations and strategies to support his learning and help him reach his full potential.

Extremely Happy!

I thought I would just let you know that Jake passed most of his GCSEs and has started college with no retakes required.

We are all extremely happy and relieved and hope that this has given Jake a confidence boost.

If you are concerned that you, your child or a young person you support may be dyslexic, please get in touch to discuss whether a full diagnostic assessment or screening would be most appropriate.

Assessments take place in a relaxed and supportive environment, with time taken to understand the individual rather than focusing solely on test scores.
